a theatrical entertainment, mainly for children, which involves music, topical jokes, and slapstick comedy and is based on a fairy tale or nursery story, usually produced around Christmas.

Pantomime is a type of theatre that embrases the bold and hilarious! It takes stories that are often classic fairytales and adds jokes and colourful costumes to create and entertaining show that had elements of humour for all ages. There are often musical numbers with singing and dancing. The show will often feature funny animals such as the pantomime horse or other such things which are a trope used to create comedy. They will also have a: villain, hero and dame (which is a man dressed as a woman who often is an older figure of comedy and authority). There will be moments where the characters talk directly to the auidence and there are moments of call and responce with the audience to make the performance more inclusive!
